App versions covered
The settings and advertising flow described below apply to version 2.0.0 and later. Earlier versions of this app may have different controls and advertising formats. Our earlier policy disclosed Google Play Services, AdMob, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, including technical logs and device information. Do not assume that the separate opt-in switches described here are available in an older version. You can check your installed version in Android app settings and update through Google Play.
No Visual Grammar account
You do not create or sign in to a Visual Grammar account. The core course works offline. Your optional name, age range, learning focus and experience level are stored only on your device for greetings and setup. They are not sent to our analytics, diagnostics, advertising or billing services. You can edit or remove them in Settings.
Learning data stored on your device
The app stores lesson progress, answers and correctness, mastery, review schedules, saved vocabulary, achievements, reminder settings, appearance and language choices, energy or reward state, and subscription entitlement state on your device. This lets the app resume learning, schedule review and show progress. Local diagnostic logs are limited in size and rotate automatically.
Android backup or device transfer may copy eligible progress and settings if you enable those Android services. The optional profile and local diagnostic logs are excluded from cloud backup and device transfer. You can delete local data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it, subject to any copy already held by your Android backup provider.
Optional product analytics
Product analytics is off until you enable it in Settings. If enabled, Firebase Analytics receives allowlisted events such as app and screen opens, topic and section identifiers, question type and correctness, coarse count or duration ranges, lesson audio actions, translation language, reminders, achievements, paywall and purchase results, rewarded-video results, and feedback category or source. Firebase may also process app-instance or device identifiers and device or app information.
We do not send your name, age range, search text, free-form feedback, lesson-answer text, lesson content, email address, advertising ID or purchase token through our product analytics. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad-personalization consent are denied for Firebase Analytics. You can turn analytics off at any time; this stops future app analytics collection and resets Analytics data held by the app, but does not automatically erase information already received by Google. Google controls retention under the Analytics property's settings and its privacy policy.
Optional crash diagnostics
Crash diagnostics is a separate setting and is off until you enable it. When enabled, Firebase Crashlytics may receive crash and ANR stack traces, relevant app state, device model and operating-system metadata, installation identifiers, and deliberately recorded non-fatal errors. Our non-fatal reports omit exception messages, field values and usage breadcrumbs. Turning diagnostics off stops future uploads and removes unsent reports held by the app; it does not automatically erase reports already received by Google. Google states in its Firebase privacy information that Crashlytics keeps crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
Rewarded advertising and privacy choices
The app has no forced banner or interstitial ads. Google User Messaging Platform checks the applicable advertising privacy requirements during an app session and may show a consent message. When required, Settings provides access to Google's privacy-options form. After Google permits ad requests, opening the Energy sheet may preload a rewarded ad; the app shows it only after you explicitly choose the video-for-energy action. After an ad closes, the app may preload the next rewarded ad while the Energy flow remains eligible.
When consent is checked or a rewarded ad is loaded or shown, Google services may process network and consent information. Google Mobile Ads states that it may collect and share the device IP address (which can indicate approximate location), ad or app interactions, diagnostics, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. The exact treatment, including personalized, non-personalized or limited ads, depends on your region, choices and Google's systems. Visual Grammar does not send your local profile or learning answers to AdMob. See Google's Mobile Ads disclosure and partner-services explanation.
Purchases
Subscriptions are offered through Google Play. The app connects to Google Play at startup to check and restore an active Visual Grammar Pro subscription. Google handles payment details. The app receives product identifiers, purchase status and a purchase token; it sends the token back to Google when acknowledging a purchase and stores only a one-way hash locally with the entitlement. There is no Visual Grammar billing backend and no Google-account identifier is attached by the app to the purchase flow.
Feedback, time and speech services
Feedback is never sent automatically. You review it, then choose Copy or Share. A shared report can include your written description, technical topic or question IDs, app version, Android version, device model, locale and window size. Recent local app events are included only if you select that option. The receiving email or sharing app and its provider then process the report. Messages received at our support mailbox are kept as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations; mailbox-provider backup retention may also apply.
For fair daily energy timing, the app may request the current time from time.google.com or time1.google.com. Those servers necessarily receive network metadata such as your IP address. Standard NTP is not encrypted. Some lesson text may be spoken by the Android text-to-speech engine you selected; that engine is a separate service and may process the lesson text under its provider's policy. Visual Grammar does not send your typed answers to text-to-speech.
Google states in its Public NTP privacy notice that it temporarily logs the full source IP address for troubleshooting, service improvement and attack detection, deletes those logs within 30 days, and does not combine them with personal information supplied to other Google services.
Health and security
The app does not request Health Connect, sensor, activity, location, camera or microphone permissions, and does not collect health or fitness data. Lessons that mention doctors, pharmacies, symptoms or treatment are language-learning material, not health services or medical advice. We do not use the optional local age range for advertising or analytics.
Firebase, Google Mobile Ads and Google Play use encrypted connections for their service traffic. The NTP time request described above is unencrypted. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Your choices and contact
You can keep using the core course without enabling analytics, crash diagnostics, a profile, rewarded ads, reminders or Pro. Settings lets you change analytics and diagnostics, edit or remove the profile, and reopen advertising privacy choices when Google requires them. For questions or requests concerning information already sent to us or our providers, email visualvocabularyapp@gmail.com. We may need limited details to locate a provider record. Because the app has no Visual Grammar account, there is no account to delete.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
